THE ILLUSION OF THE SILVER BULLET

I often get frustrated that there's not a magic pill I can take to lose weight, or a secret, simple answer to life's complicated issues. We live in a fast-food world and everyone keeps searching for some secret to being happy, having a great marriage, raising great kids, gaining wealth and being physically fit.

The truth is painful, but important - There is NO SILVER BULLET!

Life is about the "law of the farm". You reap what you sow - always, or as my kids say, "all day, every day". Sow thoughts, reap actions. Sow actions, reap habits. Sow habits, reap a destiny.

Here are some simple answers to life's nagging questions:

Want to get rich? Spend less money than you make, and do it for a long time.

Want a great marriage? Die to yourself and build your spouse up to greatness with your own hands. Crucify your selfishness, be assertive, and believe in your partner - always.

Want to grow spiritually mature and powerful? Study your Bible, spend consistent and large chunks of time in prayer; worship with abandon, fast, reflect, and give serious discipline to seeking God.

Life is not usually complicated. It's just hard. And I have found that those who do the hard work get the best results while those who wait for the silver bullets spend a lot of time and energy managing their disappointments.
