Discipleship at Evergreen
“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
— Colossians 2:6–7 (NLT)
Following Jesus is a Journey
Discipleship begins the moment you say yes to Jesus — but that’s only the beginning. Faith is not just a decision; it’s a daily walk. At Evergreen, we want to help you grow deep roots in Christ, build your life on His truth, and live out your faith in community and mission.
Your discipleship journey starts with salvation, continues through baptism, and grows through connection, serving, and walking with others.
1. Salvation — Saying Yes to Jesus
Everything begins with Jesus.
When you receive His grace and choose to follow Him, your life is transformed from the inside
out. Salvation isn’t about earning God’s love — it’s about receiving it.
“If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has gone, the new is here!”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
2. Baptism — Going Public with Your Faith
Baptism is your next step after salvation.
It’s a public declaration that you belong to Jesus — a picture of the old life being buried and the
new life rising with Him.
It’s also an act of obedience and joy — an outward sign of an inward transformation.
“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the
dead... we also may live new lives.”
— Romans 6:4
If you’ve never been baptized, we’d love to celebrate that with you.

3. Rooted — The Foundation for Growth
Once you’ve said yes to Jesus and gone public through baptism, the next step is to grow deeproots.
That’s where Rooted comes in — a 10-week discipleship journey launching this spring.
Rooted helps you connect with God, the church, and your purpose. You’ll explore rhythms like prayer, serving, generosity, and hearing God’s voice — all in community with others who are growing too.
It’s not just a class — it’s an experience that changes how you live.
Rooted begins this spring. Don’t miss it — this is where your new life in Jesus takes root! More info coming soon.
4. Serving — Where Faith Comes Alive
While you wait for Rooted to begin, the best way to grow is to jump in and serve.
Serving is where faith moves from belief to action. It’s where you discover your gifts, build
relationships, and experience God working through you.
The early church didn’t just attend — they became the church. When you serve, you follow that
same pattern of love and purpose.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of
God’s grace.”
— 1 Peter 4:10
Serving grows your faith. It teaches you to depend on God, to love people practically, and to
find joy in giving your life away — just like Jesus did.
5. Walk with Others — Growing in Relationship
Discipleship happens best in relationship.
We were never meant to walk with Jesus alone — we grow stronger when we walk together.
Find someone you respect in the faith — a mentor, a leader, or a friend — and invite them to
walk with you.
Start simple: read through the Gospel of Mark together.
Mark’s story of Jesus is personal, powerful, and full of moments where people hear and respond
to God’s voice.
As you read, ask together, ask each other:
1. What is Jesus saying?
2. What is He showing me about Himself?
3. What is He asking me to do?
When you listen together, you’ll begin to recognize God’s voice and see Him at work in your life
every day.
6. Keep Growing
Discipleship isn’t about reaching perfection — it’s about continuing the journey.
Stay rooted. Stay connected. Keep taking steps of faith, one at a time.
At Evergreen, we’re committed to walking with you — helping you grow deeper in Christ,
stronger in community, and bolder in mission.
